Netflix’s “Jay Kelly” Movie Premiere at the New York Film Festival

Netflix’s moving film Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, premiered at the New York Film Festival.

The movie artistically captured the hardships that actors often face and the sacrifices that they make on their road to success. George Clooney made the movie come to life with his charm, comedic timing, and transparency. His take on the character Jay Kelly, who is a household name in the movie’s entertainment industry, explored his strained relationship with his daughter, not being able to do “normal activities,” and his strongest bond being with his longtime agent, played by Adam Sandler. Besides understanding Jay’s life behind the scenes, we also witness his agent’s tumultuous and hectic life, being Jay’s constant go-to and right-hand.

Regardless of any last-minute changes when it comes to Jay’s schedule or travels, his agent is consistently there, which negatively affects his personal and family life. His life becomes Jay’s life, and this is a side of Hollywood that often isn’t spoken about, when it comes to not only the sacrifices that actors make, but what their team goes through and misses out on to get their talent ahead. The film literally moved me to tears during the touching scene when Jay looked back at all his movies while getting a lifetime honor; however, what started as clips from his films quickly transitioned to show the treasured moments in his actual life, which emphasized that “all the world’s a stage,” as Shakespeare once said.
