The eighth film in the Disneynature franchise is now available for in home release on Sept 15 on Blu-ray, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA).
The film is narrated by the hilarious Tina Fey, also known for her roles in Muppets Most Wanted, television’s Saturday Night Live as well as 30 Rock. The film follows a chimpanzee named Maya who climbs the chimpanzee society’s casts and show the struggles and hardships that she is put through. But fret not, the adorable chimpanzee finds herself a happy ending as Disney’s films always does. The film is a great example of how our closest relatives are just like us, with similar obstacles that we face in our daily lives. Hopefully this connection will encourage conversation of conservation as that is Disneynature’s ultimate goal for the series.
The announcement was made at a special screening event held at The Crosby Hotel in New York City on September 2nd. The different Disney nature Ambassadors attended the event to share their personal stories and connections to the Disneynature franchise. Tina Fey, the narrator of Monkey Kingdom, who gave the film a quirky comedic vibe was in attendance as well as Olivia Holt (Disneynature Ambassador), Jacquie Lee (Musical contributor on Monkey Kingdom), Mark Linfield (Director of Monkey Kingdom, Chimpanzee & Earth), Will Turner (Chief Scientist at Conservation International), and Paul Baribault (VP of Marketing at Walt Disney Studios).
