Milly Presents Fall/Winter 2016 Collection

MILLY by nature, always tends to show innovative designs characterized by a surprisingly high wearability factor. This season, Michelle Smith decided to play around with the idea of “Winter Intimacy” in order to “embrace what can happen underneath the layers”. Peplum tops and natural waist silhouettes complimenting the female form were the majority of the collection, carefully crafted from luxurious fabrics inspired by Smith’s time at the Christian Dior Haute Couture Atelier. Bright, almost neon colors and ruffled, flowing silhouettes draped in bonded wool emitted a special energy in the room, amongst an audience attempting to retreat from the 12 degree New York weather outside.

The entire beauty look was created to translate easily to the consumer, and in order to extend the vision to the models themselves, lead stylist Romy Soleimani Kevyn Aucoin Luminous Foundation was used to clean up the face, and to create the effortless subtle pink look around the eye, shadow 130 was mixed with the Kevyn Aucoin elegant lip kit and applied with a small round tip brush. Nails were styled by Katie Jane Hughes for butter London, and consisted of a coat of Horse Power Nail Rescue, two coats of Lust or Must lacquer, and one coat of Shine UV Topcoat for a glossy finish. Hair was done by Recine, and was a “simple pony tail” featuring two different textures. The hair was first slicked back using PHYTO Intense volume mousse, leaving out the nape of the neck and temples of the hair. The loose pieces were tied back in the elastic and held with PHYTO Wet Gel. The beauty look represents sophistication and craft, while instilling personality. “By perfecting beauty, one sacrifices charm- we’re trying to instill confidence. Nothing is perfect.”
