On Thursday night at the Staples Center in the heart of downtown LA, the BET Experience showcased two of comedy’s funniest entertainers: Mike Epps and Katt Williams. Everyone in attendance was ready to laugh, from out of towners sporting all white to locals looking cool with drinks in hand to paparazzi friendly celebrities with shades on.
The night officially kicked off when Mike Epps took the stage. There’s a rule of thumb that when you attend a comedy show no one should record/film the stand up routine. The last thing on earth a comedian would want is for his/her joke not to be as funny because it went viral already. So with that said, I won’t deluge any of the jokes but I will say this, I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. You can catch Mike Epps on starring in his new show on ABC, Uncle Buck.
Around 10 p.m., it was time for the comedic headliner to grace everyone with the highest levels of laughter. Walking onto the stage to Schoolboy Q’s new single featuring Kanye West “THat Part”, Katt Williams got everyone out their seats for a well deserved round of applause. During his set, Katt touched on subjects from his recent run-ins with the law to the altercation with a young teen (that was caught on video by the way) to how men should take their sex game to a new level.
All in all, the comedy leg of the BET Experience was awesome!
The BET Awards air on Sunday, June 26 at 8pm ET/7pm CT at the Microsoft Theater.
