Storm clouds didnβt deter any of the guests from attending the exclusive Budweiser Monument Series on Governorβs Island and Liberty Island. From Governorβs Island, the line-up was solid: Misterwives, Big Gigantic and T-Pain. Mary J. Blige held down Liberty Island all on her own.
Misterwives is the septet composed of one lady and six dudes. They’re an energy explosion who look a lot like they just finished shooting a pizza rolls commercial. Boogie was their MO and that they did. The crowd and band danced like nobody was watchinβ. Just as everyone was catching their breath from the dance-a-thon, the emcee announced that by random selection a group could ferry over to see Mary J. Blige LIVE! The party rolled on at Governorβs Island with complimentary Budweiser beer and burgers.
Laptop, Sax, Drumsβ¦you guessed it–Big Gigantic was next. Everybody was snapchatting their bestie as these two Colorado natives brought their mixed media DJ stylings to your favorite songs. When they put a groovy sax track over βI Need A Dollarβ the dance party swelled, it was a sea of bouncing Budweiser cans.
T-Pain and full posse implored the crowd to make their βBooty Wurk.β Then on to βCycloneβ and βBuy You a Drankβ with complete choreography. Itβs your best workout playlist in person. T-Pain paused to wish the crowd Happy Fatherβs Day and jammed on with βBlame it on the Alcohol,β βIβm N Luv Wit A Stripperβ and his other hits. The concert was in coordination with the Liberty Island show and time was tight. What does T-Pain do when he is told heβs got 5 instead of 15 minutes?Β He reaches for his flippy floppies, because it is βIβm On A Boatβ time.
It was an extraordinary show made extra special by the 4-D hologram of the action on Liberty Island. Mary J. Blige had two islands on their feet as she sang βReal Loveβ, βNo More Dramaβ and more. It was an incredible set. Just when you thought the magic was over, a spectacular fireworks show framed Lady Liberty.
