Check out Sea Tea, an up-and-coming new artist with a great sound!
There’s some type of primal pleasure discovering emerging talent, finding that random song in your Spotify stream that speaks to you and makes you say “who is this person??” And it’s even more of a buzz when you follow that artist from single to single and hear a dramatic quality shift. Such of the case with Sea Tea’s second single, “Spiral,” which dropped on Valentine’s Day(which is somehow appropriate as the song is both a love letter to a girl and about depression, which is surely amplified for so many single souls on Valentine’s Day). Sea Tea is not a band, but just one man(aka college student Caleb Tompkins), making bedroom pop for the world to hear.
A few months ago his first single, “First Flowers Of Spring,” dropped across most streaming platforms, self-produced, written, and performed by Sea Tea alone. It’s a sweet, wistful pop song with lyrics that get better when you really actually listen to them, and it puts you right there with that boyfriend or girlfriend, picking them up in your car and hugging them close and thinking this can work out(even if it at heart you know it won’t). Whatever that song offered, his new single “Spiral” tops in spades. With the help of a real producer, the sound is lush, layered and a perfect cross between bedroom and dream pop. “Inside and out my body’s frozen” but yours won’t be. With better production values the beats are deeper and the vocals are layered. Put it on, space out and enjoy. Things will only get better from here.
