Listen up New Yorkers or folks visiting NYC—want to experience the comfort and sophistication of a French bistro without flying to Paris? Well, look no further. Le Petit Village, a delicious new French restaurant that opened in Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood this week, is serving the best authentic French cuisine. Not only is the food spectacular, but you’ll also feel transported to a small rustic village in the region of Provence as soon as you step into the restaurant.

Located at 173 7th Avenue South, Le Petit Village is owned by Mathias Van Leyden and Mino Habib, the renowned duo behind the popular Loulou Petit Bistro in Chelsea. They have teamed up with New York Jets Captain C.J. Mosley and his business partner Brandon Wassel to bring this upscale dining destination to life. What makes Le Petit Village stand out are the classic French dishes from Executive Chef Mehjabin Ahmed, who has been mentored by famous chefs Daniel Humm, Daniel Boulud, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and Daniel Rose.

Ahmed’s food is balanced, elevated and celebrates French classics with a refined, rustic twist. For example, the Steak au Poivre with frites is old school, but the way it’s prepared at Loulou Petit Bistro is exquisite. The NY strip meat was tender, cooked perfectly and rivals that of the best steakhouses. Their Poached Halibut dish was also astonishing. It was fresh and infused with the right amount of herbs and spices for a delicious aroma and tender texture. We also recommend ordering the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer. It is the real deal and generous portions of flavor-packed chunks of lobster are served in a rich, silky, broth that has a major wow factor. Lastly, order the Crème Brûlée for dessert. It’s sweet and creamy with a crunchy caramelized sugar topping that is heavenly. Trust us, it’s to die for!

As for drinks, Jeremy Le Blanche of Fantom Creative Hospitality has created a cocktail menu that blends classic drinks with sensory elements that enhances both flavor and experience. Standouts include The Rose De Chloe, a rich mix of bourbon, Ratafia, and salted caramel Campari with a meringue and dehydrated rose garnish and also the Fleure Blanche, featuring bee pollen-infused vodka, St. Germain Elderflower and cucumber Pani Puri syrup, topped with baby’s breath.

Le Petit Village’s atmosphere is indeed a cozy and romantic French haven. The warm spirit of 1970s Southern France can be experienced within the 3,000 square foot space that highlights exposed brick, a vintage fireplace and dark red leather banquettes that creates an inviting backdrop for all guests. The restaurant’s upstairs level is set up like a hidden speakeasy with a private dining and cocktail lounge that gives a nod to New York’s vibrant bygone era with nostalgic party photos. For those looking for an earlier meal, brunch will launch on March 22.

With its authentic French cuisine, crafted cocktails, and a setting that captures the romantic feel of Provence, Le Petit Village is a spectacular dining experience not to be missed.
