The bob hairstyle, throughout its decades of iterations on our screens, runways, and sidewalks, persists as both a contemporary and a classic.

Its legacy of chic was revived this NYFW through Christian Cowan’s S/S 25 presentation, which created a character for the season that the designer describes as:

“sharp, no-nonsense, she can’t have hair in her face, she’s busy! She’s got shit to do but you’ll never find her with a single hair out of place.”

[As life post-fashion week returns to its busy rhythms], we all long to channel her. And thankfully, we all can. The Knockturnal had the privilege of heading backstage with the iconic hair specialist behind the trendy and timeless look, Celebrity stylist Lacy Redway, who delves into the Tresemme products that made it possible.

“We went for a bold look to complement Christian’s collection this season. To do that, we relied on the TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray to really contour the face and set those blunt angles” – Lacy Redway, TRESemmé Lead Stylist

.Although the cut itself, with its simple lines and straightforward shape, strays from Cowan’s distinguished extravagant flair, it strikes with a fearlessness that resonates throughout his work. As the blunt edge of the cut glides right below the cheek, the individual features of each model adorning it become in focus. The uniformity of the haircut amongst the models serves to highlight their individuality–each commanding the space in their way. Tresemme’s Extra Hold Mousse and Extra Hold Hairspray ensured that the bob’s sleekness dodged any weather or wind. As the models strutted down the waterfront cityscape, the only hairs possibly being raised were those of the audiences.

Lacy Redway predicts that the bob, in all its versatility, will continue to be in vogue for the year to come, with shorter, contouring lengths being more confidently explored. The process and the products pivotal to bringing this look alive are detailed below.
