The US Open grand slam tennis tournament kicked off just a few days ago with Fan Week and the revamped mixed doubles matches at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. Thousands of spectators have already gathered to watch the world’s best tennis players up close. Many more will flock to the prestigious tournament when the singles draw begins on August 24. The glitzy annual tennis event is more popular than ever—and has become a hot ticket. For the out-of-town guests, finding lodging during the US Open can be quite a challenge.
Well, look no further than the Kimpton Theta New York – Times Square, where die-hard tennis fans or casual ones can enjoy the sport in elevated style and comfort. The luxurious, modern, and serene hotel located in the heart of Times Square at 790 8th Avenue, is now offering a special and alluring vacation package called the “Grand Slam Getaway” that is pulling out all the stops for tennis enthusiasts. Those who book the package will get a large room filled with amenities, but also a complimentary Honey Deuce cocktail, the official drink of the US Open, which is a sweet and refreshing take on a raspberry lemonade made with vodka and garnished with honeydew melons to resemble tennis balls. One free Honey Deuce cocktail per guest will be served in the tournament’s official souvenir cup at Bar Sprezzatura, the hotel’s chic rooftop bar and restaurant located on the 16th floor.
The “Grand Slam Getaway” package also includes a collectible tennis ball signed by pros like American tennis player McCartney Kessler or tennis legend Stan Smith for guests to take home as a souvenir. Plus, the package gives guests priority access to Kimpton Theta’s thrilling table tennis tournament that takes place nightly during the hotel’s social hour from 5 pm-6 pm. Throughout the rest of the day, a table tennis setup will be in the lobby for guests to play.
The tennis-related activities continue at Kimpton Theta New York – Times Square. The hotel’s friendly staff is hosting a challenge every Thursday (August 21, August 28, and September 4) where guests will have the opportunity to guess the number of tennis balls within a vase. The top three players who guessed the closest to the actual number will be announced at that evening’s social hour and will receive a complimentary Honey Deuce or Kimpton Theta merchandise.
To round out the “Grand Slam Getaway” experience, Bar Sprezzatura is inviting all guests—even non-hotel guests—to enjoy Honey Deuces while watching each match streamed live on their TV screens throughout the two-week tournament. During the US Open’s finals on September 6 and 7, a table tennis setup will be available for some friendly competition. Bar Sprezzatura also serves first-rate Italian food. Their incredible meatballs are absolutely delicious, and their fusilli al ferret pasta is a flavor bomb of goodness. It’s made with spicy nduja bolognese and Castelvetrano olives. We highly recommend these two dishes. It’s not to be missed.

The property is inspired by Theta brain waves, which are present in moments of self-reflection and meditation, and it is instantly felt when walking into the lobby of the Kimpton Theta New York due to its beautiful decor, lush plants, and contemporary space. The hotel’s name is derived from the Greek alphabet’s eighth letter, Theta—a fitting connection to its location on 8th Avenue.
