Kenneth Ning’s SS17 Collection Makes Beekeeping Look Good

Kenneth Ning’s Spring/Summer ’17 collection is industrial meets Victorian meets lumberjack meets beekeeper and somehow it works.

Kenneth Ning SS17To say that there was a lot going on at Ning’s presentation last Wednesday would be a gross understatement. One look Kenneth Ning SS17featured two different sized stripe patterns in a double layered button-down top and matching cargo pants while his neighbor was decked out in a military-style jacket and multilayered shorts in a matching jacquard fabric. Two of the models donned beekeeper-esque hats with strips of fabric from their shirts hanging down over the brims in a way looks as if their tops had begun to grow and spread of their own accord. Every look in the collection was an independent creation clearly crafted with care and attention to detail, but the lot still manage to be cohesive.

Kenneth Ning SS17A color scheme that relies heavily on neutral colors allows each ensemble to fit into the larger collection while still Kenneth Ning SS17maintaining its individuality. The seamless transitions between looks are due in part to the styling of the models. Natural hair was the way to go for all models who didn’t have their hair obscured by any honey-collecting attire. The AXE hair team used both the Messy Look Flexible Paste and Natural Look Softening Paste to keep the hair looking simple and clean in order to maximize on the loudness of the clothing.

With his latest collection, Kenneth Ning continues to produce beautifully crafted, wearable clothing that defies a simple definition. His eye for the fresh and slightly offbeat has delivered another thoughtful and inspired selection of garments.
