Hollywood’s hottest creative director has added a little cheer to The West Hollywood EDITION.
Drake, Kanye West, Jay Z, Rihanna… to name a few. Willo Perron’s resume reads more like a seating chart at The GRAMMYs.
He’s the genius behind the yellow inflatable Ferrari that took flight during Drake’s “Aubrey and the Three Migos” tour. He’s made headlines for Kanye’s Calabasas compound and most recently his firm created Kesha’s psychedelic American Music Awards set.
He’s conquered the music world, now he’s taken over WeHo.
Upon stepping out of your car and approaching the entrance to The West Hollywood EDITION, you will spot Perron’s festive installation, Bauhaus Nutcrackers. The installation material is described as “sheer tensile fabric stretched over a wire structure.” The three spinning and subtly lit ornamental sculptures are 7, 17 and 27 feet tall! It’s hard to capture a photo without taking it from the ground.
Perron explains, “The three light sculptures that occupy the entrance vestibule were conceived as oversized volumes to complement the grandiose scale of the hotel itself. Each of the totem-like, kinetic light sculptures are abstracted shapes borrowed from classic holiday motifs and present a play of materiality by appearing at once translucent and opaque, heavy and yet floating.”
You have to see it for yourself!
Bauhaus Nutcrackers is on display outside of The West Hollywood EDITION until December 29th, 2019. While you’re there, step into the lobby bar for holiday cocktails like Mezcal Negroni with campari, frankincense and sweet vermouth or the Spiced Mule with a choice of rum or vodka with spiced apple reduction, lime juice, Source ginger beer and angostura. Happy Holidays!
