The Knockturnal caught up with the always wonderful June Ambrose at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fundβs (OCRF) 18th annual SuperΒ Saturday NY presented by Fiji Water.
Tell us about your outfit!Β
I wanted to wear something tangerine and vibrant and bright. IΒ always go maxi cause Iβm vertically challenged so it always makes me look taller causeΒ Iβm not going to wear heels here. So might as well wear something long andΒ just get one fluid line, monochromatic, airy, breezy, and comfortable, IΒ mean, thatβs what itβs about.Β This is Cavalli.
Why is this event so important to you?
I think Ovarian CancerΒ is a disease thatΒ really goes overlooked. Women donβt really necessarily focus on it as much and if youΒ get it early, early detection could save your life and I think thatβs half the battle isΒ reminding your girlfriends, reminding yourself, get checked, know that as women weΒ have to look out for each other. And Iβm glad there are so many male designers involvedΒ now, I was just talking to Dennis BassoΒ about this and he said without you women, there is noΒ us, and I said that is very true. I feel like we all have familyΒ members that have been affected by this somehow, Iβve definitely had it in my family, so IΒ think that itβs important to spread the word and support something thatβs going to saveΒ lives.
Other stars in attendance includedΒ Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, designer Dennis Basso, Joy Behar, Jonathan Cheban, actor Mark Feuerstein, actress Clare Foley, Miss USA Olivia Jordan, Gayle King, Kelly Rutherford, Brooke Shields, Molly Sims, Joe Zee and Rachel Zoe. The event was also presented by QVC.
