This collaboration is the perfect marriage between a craft whiskey and a skillfully made cigar.
Last week, legendary bourbon brand Jos. A Magnus invited a select few to partake in an intimate dinner and whiskey tasting at the famed Club Macunado cigar club. This dinner was to celebrate the Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon and the new collaboration with Partagas’ new signature line, the Partagas Valle Verde. This partnership not only merges the world of fine spirits and premium cigars but also emphasizes how quality ingredients and attention to detail create a perfect tasting experience.
At the dinner, Master Blend Nancy Fraley (Who recently won Master Blender of the Year at the Women in Whiskey awards) guided guests through a detailed tasting of the Cigar Blend while also telling the story of how Jos. A Magnus came to be. This blend dates to the middle of the nineteenth century when young Magnus built a liquor empire out of Ohio. However, once prohibition started, Magnus’ operation stopped and this amazing bourbon recipe became even more limited. It was nearly a century later that one of Magnus’ great-grandsons found a 122-year-old bottle of this whiskey tucked away in his family’s attic. It was then that the Magnus whiskey was rediscovered and later recreated for everyday consumption and enjoyment.
What makes this blend special and particularly unique is its rich, rounded, and bold flavors that are designed to complement the smoking of a fine cigar. With each sip, you get beautiful notes of tobacco, baking spices, dried fruit, caramel, and much more. And this limited edition blend lends itself to the newest Partagas release, the Partagas Valle Verde. This cigar is the first ever Partagas cigar made with a San Andres wrapper from Veracruz, Mexico which created flavors of cocoa with each puff. Both flavors meld together beautifully pairing the notes of cocoa from the cigar and the flavors of spice, vanilla, and caramel. This collaboration was a long time coming and we could not be more happy that it has happened.
