Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, known for their film Gravity, have worked on a new film and are ready to share it with the world. Desierto is a modern vision of terror, a heart-pounding thriller that is filled with suspense and tension all throughout the film. Gael García Bernal, known for films such as The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También, stars in the film alongside The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The film will be screened at 6:00 P.M. on May 28 at Roxy Theatre in San Francisco. The film’s screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director, Jonás Cuarón, co-sponsored by the General Consulate of Mexico in San Francisco. The screening will be Co-presented by Cine+Mas San Francisco Latino Film Festival, PODER San Francisco and CARECEN.
The film follows the story of what starts off as a hopeful journey to seek a better life that becomes a fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S. Mexican border. The odds are stacked against them in the desert terrain, as they find that there is nowhere to hide from the merciless killer.
