John Varvatos has just unveiled his new S/S โ18 campaign in collaboration with Nick Jonas, in a move that has set the fashion world on fire. The event was all youโd expect from the famed designer and the man who was once adored for wearing purity rings and causing havoc with his teenage brother on the Disney channel.
The 7 piece capsule collection was designed by both Varvatos & Jonas after the two met in LA and bonded over dinner and tequila. โWhen we met it was this connect of energy. We looked at each other and just said โyes, lets create something together! Soon after we sat down and listened to his new song, and the thought came back. We just knew we had to do something coolโ.
This is a big step for Varvatos, as it is the first time collaborating and putting another name on his label other than his own. When asked if itโs the millennial influence or a natural progression John claims itโs all down to good chemistry. โIt never really went through my mind to call it a millennium influence, but I guess in a way youโre right. It was just really a strong connect of energy. I love this kid, I love his vintage style, heโs been wearing my brand for years and I just love the way he approaches life”.
Victor Cruz was more than impressed with the duos connection, admitting he was wearing the new fragrance, trusting his palm in my face to smell. โItโs amazing, Iโve always been a big fan of Nick and John. I think itโs dope and I think it makes sense for the brand. Itโs both very on point for both of them, and Iโm excited, theyโre always gonna do good things togetherโ.
Guests toasted the collaboration with signature Hot-tails served at the perfect temperature in Ember Ceramic mugs. In attendance was Victor Cruz, Andre Peijic, Darren Criss, Cassadee Pope, and Afiya Bennett among other celebrities.
When asked about the future of fashion and what the coming year has in store, Varvatos looked at me with a cheeky grin, and simply said โKeep watching, itโs going to be great!โ.
