The Knockturnal chatted with Angela Vasquez of Haus & Hues to dish on all the best advice relating to decorating your space.
There are some people who have a natural knack at decorating, and others who are the complete opposite. If you’re in the mood for revamping your home or just got a new apartment; we’ve broke down the best tips and tricks recommended by none other than one of the minds behind Haus & Hues, Angela Vazquez.
The Knockturnal: Why did you decide to start your business?
Angela Vazquez: We started our business after struggling to find affordable, on-trend wall art while decorating our college dorms. Frustrated with the lack of options, we began making our own wall art and selling it to friends and family. Seeing the potential demand for our products, we decided to turn our passion into Haus and Hues.
The Knockturnal: What part of your business is the most important to you?
Angela Vazquez: Our customers and the quality of our products are the most critical aspects of our business. We take great pride in ensuring each art piece is meticulously examined to meet our high standards, and we strive to create products that allow our customers to express themselves creatively and love their space. Customer satisfaction is at the forefront of everything we do, and we are committed to providing an excellent experience at every step of the purchasing process.
The Knockturnal: What is your hope in the years to come for Haus and Hues?
Angela Vazquez: Our vision for our business is to become a household name for premium, affordable art and decor. This year, we’re excited to take that vision to the next level by launching our new furniture brand and print-on-demand service, which allows customers to print and frame personal photographs and artwork. Looking ahead, we want to continue growing to give our customers more opportunities to decorate their spaces at a low cost without compromising quality.
The Knockturnal: What has it been liking seeing people fill up their rooms/dorms/apartments with your artwork?
Angela Vazquez: Seeing our customers fill their rooms with our artwork brings us so much inspiration and joy. Decorating a space is very personal, and we love seeing how our products fit seamlessly into different design styles. It’s incredibly gratifying to know that our prints and frames are helping to bring beauty and personality to our customers’ spaces, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that process.
The Knockturnal: For people who want to purchase artwork but don’t know where to start, what are some tips you have for decorating?
Angela Vasquez: Decorating with art can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Our top tips are: 1) Start by thinking about the mood or style you want to create in your space. 2) Look for pieces that speak to you personally or have special meaning. 3) Don’t be afraid to mix and match different art styles and mediums to create a unique and dynamic look. 4) Consider the size and scale of the artwork in relation to the room and furniture. And finally, 5) Have fun with it! Art is a great way to express yourself and make your space feel more inviting.
The Knockturnal: Have you picked up any other decorating tips along the way?
Angela Vazquez: As a company specializing in art and decor, we’ve definitely picked up some decorating tips! One of our favorites is to use large-scale art to anchor a room and create a focal point. We’ve also discovered the power of layering – adding depth and interest to a room by layering different fabrics, colors, and patterns. Finally, lighting is key to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere – playing with multiple lighting sources and levels can completely transform the mood of a space.
