March 26th is an important day in sneaker culture, especially for fans of the Nike Air Max.
This past Air Max day was a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1. The company celebrated the innovation that has put their sneaker technology at the top of the game and has customers coming back for more.
Nike also announced the winner of their Air Max Day ‘Vote Forward’ campaign. The campaign, a sneaker designing competition, challenged twelve people from all around the world to design the next Nike Air Max. The winner of the 2017 competition was Sean Wotherspoon, debuting a Air Max 1 and Air Max 97 mash up with a corduroy finish inspired by Nike’s vintage hat collection.
Travis Scott also stopped by in LaBrea for a special Air Max Day Performance that he tweeted about just a few minutes before the show. The rapper has a history of working with Nike, being the face of the ‘Summer of Sport’ collaboration with Riccardo Tisci back in 2016. The rapper hit the NikeLab stage with his sound partner Chase B and performed his hit songs ‘Mamacita’, ‘Goosebumps’, ‘90210’ and more. The performance was part of a private event, held by Nike in honor of the revolutionary Air Max.
