Havana Club’s Exclusive First Sip Cocktail Experience

On Wednesday, February 6th, Havana Club held their exclusive First Sip cocktail experience at the intimate Diego bar within the swanky PUBLIC Hotel in NYC.

Once guests arrived, they were treated to delicious nibbles and three courses of specialty cocktails. These specialties included the delectable Airmail, a champagne starter featuring a light Havana Club Añejo Blanco; a seasonal Spiced Apple Daiquiri mixed with a smooth Havana Club Añejo Classic; and for the finale, the El Presidente, packing a punch with a memorable blend of Havana Club Añejo Blanco and Blanc De Chambrey Vermouth.

This enjoyable evening was hosted by Gio Gutierrez, Havana Club’s brand ambassador, who shared many interesting facts on the history of the remarkable brand’s heritage.

The Arechabala family, the founders of Havana Club, began creating rum in Cuba in 1878, following with a trademark of the brand in 1934. Havana Club’s well-rounded rum, featuring notes of vanilla, oak, and tropical fruit, soon became renowned and iconic throughout Cuba. When the Cuban regime seized the company’s assets, the Arechabala family was forced to flee their beloved homeland with their coveted rum recipe.

In 1995, Havana Club relaunched in the United States after the Bacardi family purchased the original rum recipe. Now, the delightful liquor of the Golden Age can be found as a staple in high-end restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The perseverance and dedication of the Arechabala family has made it possible for everyone to enjoy this exquisite taste of Cuban history.
