Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, and Cast Discuss ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ at NYC Premiere

The stars and director of the highly anticipated psychological thriller talked all things ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ at the film’s New York City premiere.

Set in Victory, an idealized and experimental community, the film follows Florence Pugh’s Alice and Harry Styles’ Jack as they navigate life in their seemingly utopian town. All is not what it seems, and soon cracks begin to appear in Alice and Jack’s allegedly perfect life. Alice then questions all that she knows and works to uncover the truth about Victory, her relationship, and beyond.

Olivia Wilde both directs and stars in the film, with Gemma Chan, Chris Pine, Nick Kroll, Kiki Layne, Sydney Chandler, Douglas Smith, Kate Berlant, and Asif Ali rounding out the cast.

“The film was engineered from the beginning for an IMAX experience,” Olivia Wilde stated. “It should feel really visceral, it should feel like you are inside, you should absolutely experience the sound design on another level and the cinematography of Matthew Libatique on a totally different level than everybody else. This is the ultimate way to see the movie.”

“I don’t think I saw them coming,” Harry Styles said of the many twists and turns that the film takes. “I loved the story, it says a lot about society.”

“I was excited to muck around with how my character might be powerful and how she might express that power,” Gemma Chan said of what she was most looking forward to exploring on screen. “And how she might mess with everyone else in Victory, which is always good fun.”

Nick Kroll discussed how thrilled he was to work with Wilde and play her husband in the film, while Sydney Chandler, Kate Berlant, Asif Ali, and Douglas Smith all expressed how thankful they were to be a part of Don’t Worry Darling and have a creative outlet during the pandemic.

The panel concluded with questions from fans and a special message from Florence Pugh and Chris Pine, who were unable to attend the premiere due to scheduling conflicts.

See Don’t Worry Darling only in theaters September 23.
