An intimate performance by the Tik Tok superstar herself
On Saturday, June 1st, the Greenwich Film Festival hosted their Epic Anniversary party and concert at The Capitol Theater. At this event, guests were able to sample some of the tastiest small plates along with some specialty cocktails. At this event, actress and head of the Social Impact Jury, Connie Nielson, presented the award for Best Social Impact Film to Afterward which was presented to Ofra Bloch. After this award was presented, the ceremony was followed by a live performance by Grammy nominated singer Kesha.
Kesha was electric during her performance, entering the stage from a giant spaceship tent from center stage. Dressed in a chic, forward looking cowgirl outfit, Kesha performed some of her older hits along with some of her latest songs. Some of the highlights of this performance was her performing songs like “Take it Off,” “Blow,” and “Bastards.” It was interesting how she bridged the vibe of her old songs with her new rock and roll outlook on music, playing a lot of the bridges on the electric guitar and rocking out. And what would a Kesha performance be if she didn’t play two of her hit songs “Praying” and “Tik Tok.” Her performance of “Praying” was an emotional performance. Throughout this song, it was very apparent that she felt every single word that she was singing. After the song finished, she told that crowd that every time she performs this song, she feels extremely humble with how much people love the song. And her last song was of course “Tik Tok,” saying that she wanted to leave the stage with “beers and not tears.” Her performance of this song was a throwback to the Ke$ha era that people first fell in love it. It was wild, fun, and electric. And during her performance, she offered to baby bird a member of the audience by drinking a can of beer and feeding it to one “lucky” audience member who got drenched in beer. But if you had to get soaked in beer, at least it was beer that was spat out by Kesha.
What was even more memorable about this performance was that during the middle of her set she left for inside her tent and changed into an outfit covered in rainbow colored fringe to celebrate the start of Pride month. She thanked all of her LGBTQ+ fans during this performance and told them how much their support means to her.
Overall, Kesha’s performance was incredible. She really knows how to create a great set list and command the stage where everybody is having fun and feeling good. Her energy was not only warm and inviting, but also hardcore and fun.
