Coming to theaters on July 21, GIRLS TRIP is a summertime comedy everyone must watch. The film covers the trip of four lifelong friends – played by Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett, Tiffany Haddish and Queen Latifah – who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. For those of you who don’t know, the Essence Festival is an annual music festival that celebrates the anniversary of ESSENCE, a magazine tailored for an audience consisting of African American women. During the trip, their sisterhood is rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered and there’s tons of dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing out in New Orleans.
The comedy film has been produced by Will Packer, commonly known for his hit films such as Ride Along and the Think Like a Man Franchises, and directed by Malcom D. Lee, who also worked on The Best Man Franchise and Barbershop: The Next Cut. Hall, Haddish, Smith, Latifah work alongside Larenz Tate, Kate Walsh and Mike Colter to bring the script to life.
