Kristen Stewart’s Met Ball Hair was done by by Adir Abergel for Pai–Shau

For Kristen Stewart’s Met Ball 2016 hair look, Adir Abergel for Pai–Shau created a bold futuristic style inspired by the dramatic black-silver Chanel dress she wore, shaded with memories of his first encounter with the edgy technology of the late 80’s.

The look was raw and deconstructed. Her striking hair color was bleached white with contrasting deep silver grey roots, had a smoothed, glossed-out swirl of top hair, and accented by textured knots and a defined side braid. The style was a tech-savvy and progressive take on the punk hacker-chic styles of that era.

Creating the Look

“I started with Pai–Shau Biphasic Infusion, made with their amazing Signature Exotic Tea Complex.  I always love the beautiful, weightless foundation it gives. It also primed and hydrated her just-bleached hair so the texture was smooth, shiny and frizz-free, almost like virgin hair so it was easier to style.”

“I took a handful of Pai–Shau Royal Abundance Mousse to give body and create soft structure and worked it from roots to mid length. I then blow-dried the hair using a diffuser to lock in the deconstructed texture.”

“Once the hair was dry and ready to be thrown up, I took the top sections, made knotted twists and secured them with some hairpins.”

“I continued all the way around and then made a tight divided braid across the side of her head to define and anchor the look.”

“I finished with a weightless spray of Pai–Shau Sublime Hold Hairspray for flexible hold and all night memory.”
