In an unexpected twist of fate, Katelyn Ansari’s life took a dramatic turn after a viral TikTok moment at Home Depot. The video not only introduced her to the love of her life, Tryce, but also captured the hearts of millions online. Katelyn opens up about her journey, navigating newfound fame, and what’s next for her and Tryce.

The Knockturnal: Your viral moment at Home Depot captivated so many people. How did that experience change the trajectory of your life and career?

Katelyn Ansari: This whole experience has changed my life in so many ways. First, I was able to find a man I’m head over heels with. Tryce is everything I put on my vision board for the love I strived to find. Secondly, our story went crazy viral and literally broke the internet in a week’s time. Tryce and I have quickly become the “Home Depot couple,” and that’s not going away anytime soon.

The Knockturnal: Finding love in such an unexpected place captivated millions. What was it about that moment that resonated with so many people, and how has it influenced your content?

Katelyn: I think everyone loves a good old-fashioned love story. We all know that online dating sucks—you get trapped in these apps and algorithms, swiping past people you aren’t remotely interested in. Even when you find someone, it’s just this annoying small talk where you know they’re talking to 10 other people. It feels hopeless and not romantic at all.

Tryce and I met in such an innocent, organic way. We both have similar paths; we got divorced, took up dancing to find a new social circle, and love flipping houses. It really feels like we were meant to meet. I think people resonate with that because when they see us stepping outside our comfort zones, it shows how fun and rewarding that can be.

The Knockturnal: How has your relationship evolved since that viral moment? What’s it like now, and how do you navigate both personal and public life?

Katelyn: I’m a pretty independent and solo person, but I want our story to be ours, so I lean on Tryce a lot to make sure he’s comfortable with everything I’m posting. In turn, he’s really been my emotional rock. Nobody tells you how life-changing going viral can be. I love the growth, but it came with a lot of additional eyes I wasn’t prepared for. Tryce really calms my nerves and empowers me to keep going.

The Knockturnal: What was your biggest struggle with dating apps, and how did your experience with finding love in such an unexpected way change your perspective on online dating?

Katelyn: My biggest struggle was the communication. I’m such an introvert, so small talk drives me nuts. I’d rather meet someone and know right away if we’re going to click. Meeting someone organically is the best way. I figured out the kind of man I liked, figured out where he’d likely hang out, and put myself there. It’s the only way I’ll ever date, and hopefully, I’m never single again.

The Knockturnal: You’ve built a personal brand around love, home projects, and travel. What’s the balance like between creating content that feels authentic while keeping up with the demands of your audience?

Katelyn: The besties are so invested; I want to give them all the content, but it’s a balance of staying grounded and putting yourself out there. I want to protect our relationship but share the things we both agree on and the growing pains. We’ve really become a united front in terms of what we’re sharing on social and what we want to keep private.

For example, one night we were debating whether I was wearing sweatpants or pajamas, and we took to TikTok for a final answer. It was a way to bring in our audience with the fun we’re having while keeping our relationship ours. I loved it.

The Knockturnal: Has your approach to content creation changed since you first went viral, especially in terms of the topics you cover and how you engage with your followers?

Katelyn: Oh my gosh, totally! I’ll play around with the content to see what performs best and what the girlies like. The highest-performing content always includes Tryce. My audience loves seeing me happy, and it’s so refreshing and special to have a core group of girlies who are supportive and want the best for you.

The Knockturnal: What’s been the most surprising or unexpected part of your journey since becoming a digital creator, and how do you handle the pressure of maintaining that online presence?

Katelyn: I’m not sure I can share all the details, but we’re going on a TV show soon. Tryce and I are so nervous but also so excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The Knockturnal: Looking ahead, are there any exciting projects or milestones you can share with us? What’s next for you and your relationship, both in terms of content and personal life?

Katelyn: Absolutely! Content-wise, we’re taking it day by day and sharing our lives authentically. We’re also talking big things like buying a house, getting married, and maybe having babies. We’re really excited to see where life takes us.
