Frieze returned to New York City in a thrilling way that demonstrated the power of art in a boldly passionate way.

The Shed from May 7 to 11 was the location for a variety of memorable moments full of splendid glory that only the renowned show can produce.  Under the direction of Christine Messineo, Director of Americas, Frieze, the fair successfully blended more than 65 leading galleries from over 25 countries, offering a distilled perspective on the global art landscape, set against the culturally rich backdrop of New York City.

“Frieze New York offers an engaging and dynamic experience of New York as a vibrant hub of the international art world,” Messineo said. “Steps away from Chelsea’s galleries, the fair brings together extraordinary work exploring perspectives that shape contemporary art. Frieze week features performances, talks, and events not only at the Shed but also throughout the city.”

The fair saw major collectors, institutional figures, artists, and art world luminaries all in attendance. In addition to gallery exhibitors, the 13th edition of the fair offers a line-up of performance-driven programming, including commissioned works by three internationally acclaimed artists, Asad Raza, Carlos Reyes, and Pilvi Takala, activating the unique architectural spaces of The Shed and the surrounding High Line.

Attendees included Josh Abraham, Jacky Aizenman, Cecilia Alemani, Laurent Asscher, Desiree Barnes, Stephanie Barron, Nicholas Baume, Naomi Beckwith, Bradley Bell, Natalie Bell, Dale Bennet, Suzanne Deal Booth, Isolde Brielmaier, Eileen & Peter Broido, JK Brown, Johanna Burton, Connie Butler, Mario Cader-Frech, James Cahn, Eleanor Cayre, Richard Chang, Georgina Chapman.

Supported by global lead partner Deutsche Bank, continuing over two decades of a shared commitment to artistic excellence. Founded in 1991 with the launch of “frieze magazine,” the brand has grown to encompass seven of the most significant art fairs worldwide in cities including Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, and Seoul. These events attract leading artists, galleries, and collectors, fostering innovative dialogues and practices within the art community. Frieze magazine continues to set the benchmark for insightful art criticism and commentary, while frieze.com serves as a vital online resource.

A highlight appreciated by many was the promotion of the Coalition for the Homeless with the fourth edition of the Artist Plate Project. Partnering with 50 world-renowned artists to create limited-edition plates, the pieces of artwork were offered for sale to support their lifesaving services for homeless and low-income New Yorkers.

Launched in 2020 by Co-Founder & Curator Michelle Hellman, the Artist Plate Project has partnered with more than 150 acclaimed artists. Since its inception, the project has raised over $7 million to support homeless New Yorkers. On any given night, nearly 125,000 people, including over 43,000 children, experience homelessness in New York City. The funds raised by the Artist Plate Project will provide emergency food and clothing, eviction prevention, rental assistance, job training, youth programs, and crisis services to the most vulnerable families and individuals.

Upstairs, in between viewings, Dobel Tequila hosted a splendid lounge that served up sophisticated sips. Fairgoers experienced true Mexican hospitality, with an offering of the brand’s range of smooth tequilas – including Dobel Diamante, the world’s first Cristalino, Dobel Blanco, which has no additives, Dobel Reposado, and Dobel Añejo – in a selection of handcrafted cocktails.

Born in Jalisco, Mexico, with a refined craft and heritage that spans over 250 years, Maestro Dobel was founded by 11th-generation tequila maker Juan Dobel in 2003. Known for its category innovation and mastery of tequila craftsmanship, Dobel is a modern expression of tequila, featuring a collection of ultra-premium, award-winning tequilas.

Here is to the phenomenal moments at Frieze in 2025.
