In a collaboration between the two bands, Franz Ferdinand + Sparks blew up the stage at Terminal 5 on October 6, all in celebration of their tour after releasing their self-debuted album in June. After The Intelligencers opened for them, FFS took the stage by storm as they played songs from their album and shared anecdotes from their tour so far.
The band played a number of songs from their collaboration and separate albums, including “Police Encounters,” “Do You Want To,” and “Turn It Off.” Nearing the end of the show as “Number One Song in Heaven” was playing, Ron Mael of Sparks got up from playing the keyboard and started dancing around, garnering a bunch of laughs and cheers from the crowd. Following that, “Save Me From Myself” and “Things I Won’t Forget” also had the crowd in a dancing and cheering mood.
Crowd favorite “Take Me Out” was played soon after, much to the delight of the audience, and “Piss Off” brought the entire performance around just before a closing with the performance of “Collaborations Don’t Work.” The crowd went wild as the artists left the stage, after just being told by Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos that there aren’t two bands on stage, but rather one.
The show was laid back and super fun to attend. And as FFS continues their tour, we can’t wait to see what they do next.
