13 years have come and gone but finally fans get a sneak peek at the much awaited Disney/Pixar movie Finding Dory.

News of the already famous sequel has been unofficially known for many years now, especially after the release of the wildly successful Finding Nemo. But the public was finally given a date to look forward to in the last year or so. Voiced by public figure Ellen DeGeneres, the story mimics the same theme as the first movie, but this time forgetful Dory is searching for her parents. The movie timeline takes place six months after Albert Brook’s Marlin goes on the adventure of a lifetime to find his son Nemo after being captured by a diver and lands in the fish tank of a dentist. DeGeneres’ character Dory became an instant fan favorite upon the release of the 2003 Disney Pixar movie, charming audiences with her at times frustrating forgetfulness but sincere heart. Though Pixar released a preliminary trailer back in November, it didn’t provide much information, but garnered the attention needed to wake fans out of their 13 year slumber.

Fans now get a detailed look at the friendly fish’s quest with the release of the new trailer for Finding Dory. DeGeneres herself debuted the trailer and introduced the return of familiar faces like characters Marlin (Albert Brooks), Nemo (Hayden Rolence), and others, but also new characters. Dory remembers that her parents are out in the vast blue of the California coastline waiting for her, voiced by actors Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy. In her search she befriends new characters like whale shark Destony, voiced by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlyn Olson, and a Beluga whale voiced by Modern Family’s Ty Burrell. Directed by Andrew Stanton and written by Stanton and Bob Peterson, the movie is not yet ready for release. Even though fans still need to wait until June 17th for the movie, at least it’s coming out within the year.
