1980’s California was a wild mix of leg warmers, bright colors, loud music, and dancing on top of mall fountains, at least according to the free-spirited Julie, a self-proclaimed valley girl determined to make her senior year everything she wants it to be and more. But when a mysterious new boy from the other side of town swoops into her life, Julie is willing to risk it all for the adventure of a lifetime.

This new adaptation of the iconic 1983 movie Valley Girl is set to a rocking 80’s soundtrack, choreographed by Mandy Moore and produced by Harvey Mason Jr. The story follows the relationship between two teenagers from total opposite worlds who have a pretty untraditional romance during their senior year of high school. A classic Romeo and Juliet story, but with more Madonna, and slam dancing. The cinematic world that we’re presented with is upbeat, colorful, and exciting, with a killer soundtrack, making it the perfect way to get out of your quarantine slump, and back into a time where the music was blasting and life was a little more simple.

The movie stars Jessica Rothe as Julie, and Josh Whitehouse as Randy, the punk rock apple of her eye. The two have undeniable chemistry through the ups and downs of their relationship, from the highs of the Hollywood boulevard club scene to the lows of the roller rink parking lot. The original film started Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage as Randy and Julie, topping the box office for weeks on end and coming in at nearly 20 million dollars.

Alongside them, the film also stars Logan Paul as Mickey, Julie’s materialistic ex, as well as Chloe Bennet, Mae Whitman, Ashleigh Murray, Jessie Ennis, Rob Huebel, Judy Greer, Alicia Silverstone, and Camila Morrone. Not only can this smash hit cast act, they also have incredible voices, as presented in this new musical version of the film. The soundtrack is full of classic 80’s hits that are bound to make anyone nostalgic to those days, and it’s available to stream on Spotify now!

Fans of the original will certainly not be disappointed in this new, brightly colored version of the cult classic. While still holding true to the values of the 1983 hit, this version is beautifully nostalgic and presents an upbeat mood that anyone can enjoy.
