It was a night of high-octane entertainment on the big screen, as Brad Pitt and his fellow crew or cast-mates made a pitstop in NYC to celebrate the world premiere of their film, ‘F1 The Movie.’
The star-studded event went down in Times Square before heading over to Radio City Music Hall on Monday, June 16th, 2025. In attendance were Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Apple CEO Tim Cook, director Joseph Kosinski, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Sir Lewis Hamilton, along with the star of the movie, of course, Brad Pitt.
We are so excited to share this film with you,” Pitt admitted, before thanking his crew. He added “a special thanks to the F1 community, all the drivers, the team principals, the teams, the sports casters, everyone who made this movie possible!” He went on to say, that the movie has been “three years in the making” and noted how generous FORMULA 1 was to the production by saying they allowed “us to be embed ourselves into your howled ground so can’t thank you enough.” Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer also mentioned his appreciation for those who welcomed the production and promised the film would be quite a thrill on the big screen. He said, “ Thank you, New York, for being here tonight. We are thrilled to show this movie to you…It makes me so proud to be a part of this film…You’re in for a treat, I promise you!”
‘F1 The Movie’ is a racing film starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, and Damson Idris. It is from Apple Original Films and the director of ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ Joseph Kosinski. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Kosinski, seven-time FORMULA 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, along Brad Pitt. The film is also scored by the legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
The movie tells the story of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom until an accident on the track nearly ended his career, but after being approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team, Hayes decides to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. However, Sonny’s past catches up with him as he is tasked with driving alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie, who is intent on setting his own pace. Most of the racing shots were filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends.
F1Ⓡ The Movie races into theaters and IMAXⓇ nationwide on June 27, 2025, and internationally beginning June 25, 2025.
