Tamar and Traci Braxton hit NYC’s Sony Hall stage on December 29, 2018.Β
The duo also stopped by DCβs Howard Theatre, hometown area for The Braxtons. Traci Braxton opened for both of Tamar’s holiday shows and fans were equally excited forΒ each of their electrifying performances.
And later, the VIP concert experience included a champagne toast and photo with Tamar and Traci, and an exclusive Q&A session.Β After a fan asked, βhow is Trina holding up,β Tamar replied, βnot ok,” in reference toΒ the recent and sudden passing of Trina Braxtonβs ex-husband, Gabe Solis.Β The loving fans promised to keep Trina and the family in prayer and continued on with questions about the return of WeTVβs Braxton Family Values, and the release of new music from both Tamar and Traci.
We also had our own questions for the two sisters about their explosive performance in NYC.
How are you feeling after this performance?
Tamar Braxton: βI feel amazing. I couldnβt wait to be here with all the fans. Itβs been a year since Iβve had a Tamartian show. And then to share this opportunity with my sister… I feel amazing.β
Traci Braxton: βI feel wonderful. Itβs great to come to cities that you love and [where] people love you right back. You know? It was a fulfilling moment to be here for Tamar and to be opening for Tamar. When she asked me, I was willing to do it. Thatβs my sister. Sheβs given me an opportunity and supporting her is a great feeling.β
What energy do you get from performing on a New York stage that you donβt receive elsewhere?
Tamar Braxton: βLife! And the truth! If youβre not popping, theyβll let you know right away. But if youβre real and youβve worked hard and have an amazing show, theyβll let you know that, too–they appreciate that.β
How do you prepare yourself to sing in front of a live audience?
Traci Braxton: βThey played a song before I went on. βFollow meβ [she sings]! I was [backstage] doing house music, dancing, I was in it to win it. And I don’t know if you all could see me before I went on stage but before I go on stage, I get a nauseating feeling or a feeling where I have to go kee-kee. And when I started singing, I was just like oh my God. A lot of artists get butterflies and things like that. And that’s a good thing because once you lose [that butterfly feeling] thatβs when you have to panic. If you’re good with your craft and itβs something that you love to do, everyone gets those jitters [before performing]. So I am glad that I still get that feeling.β
What do you find to be intimidating about performing?
Tamar Braxton: βYou know, I always want to put on an amazing show because people spend their hard-earned money. Sometimes people spend their last to come and see you and thatβs important to me. I don’t take that for granted. So I really want to put on an amazing show and give them their moneyβs worth and put on an experience. Not just for them to come back again, but [also] for them to take away something and to go home and feel… It’s nothing like buying something at the store, and getting home [just to regret] what youβve bought. You know? And I don’t want people to have that experience ever. Because people are investing in you, whether they’re watching your TV show, whether they are buying your product, whether they are buying tickets to your show or your meet and greet — it means a lot for people to spend their money.β
Β What makes you beautiful?
Tamar Braxton: βThat I accept myself for who I am. And whoever doesnβt like me, please take a number and get in line [laughter] because I canβt change how you feel about me, I can only change how I feel about me.β
In an earlier Instagram post, Tamar posted a flier announcing the two-city concert series and wrote: βNot to be confused, this is a CONCERT. Not a walk through. Not an appearance. A full blown TAMAR BRAXTON for-the-fans concert.β
After attending the show and the exclusive meet and greet, we happen to agree that it was a βfull blownβ experience, which the fans obviously loved based on their tears of joy and many accolades.
We look forward to hearing more about upcoming projects from bothΒ Tamar and Traci Braxton.
