We caught up with “Assassin’s Creed” stars Coco König and Ariane Labed at the film’s New York premiere.
Check out what they had to say below:
Tell us a little bit about your role in the film.
Coco: I play Abstergo Orderly, who is working with the assassins and taking care for Michael Fassbender as well when he arrives to the assassins’ house. It’s a very exciting part. It was great working with Justin Kurzel, with Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and I’m seeing it now for the first time, so I’m very excited for that.
Speak about working with Michael.
Coco: He’s wonderful. Whenever he wanted to try a different way to approach the scene, he would just do it and both versions would just be so great. I guess Justin Kurzel, the Director, has the greatest option to choose from.
How about Justin, what do you admire about his vision?
Coco: Oh. It was wonderful because while the scene that I’m in is a pretty cold scene actually and everything is quite organized and technical, there was still such emotion whenever the camera stopped. There was still such great energy in the room and I think he definitely brought that good energy, so it was wonderful to work with him.
How about Marion?
Coco: She’s so beautiful and such a wonderful actress. I was actually very star-struck by her when I saw her for the first time, so it was a great experience.
Tell us a little bit about how you got your start in acting? I saw you were in a lot of theater in Europe.
Coco: I started with theater in Europe and did two or three plays every year in Paris, in Germany and in Austria. Then, I did my first film a year and a half ago called The Carer. After that, I did another play, which was also on TV and then Assassin’s Creed. Let’s hope that it goes on this way, then I would be very happy.
You’re currently studying at NYU?
Coco: Exactly. I’m studying political science at NYU. This is in between exams. I’m at Gallatin. It’s finals week and this is a great distraction.
What do you hope to do next? What are you looking forward to?
Coco: I just think projects that generally interest me, where I can read the script and I can think that this is something I would love to be a part of. I think that’s always the most important part to me. To work with such great people, just Michael Fassbender or Marion Cotillard, that was really, really special.
Tell us about your role in the film.
Ariane: I’m Maria. I’m an assassin and I’m fighting with Aguilar against the Templar.
Yeah. Can you speak about collaborating with Michael?
Ariane: Yeah. It was very, very exciting and very intense. We wanted to do as much as possible of the fight scenes and everything together so it’s great actually to meet someone through physicality because you get to understand each other much quicker and much faster. It was a great collaboration from the first day really.
What message do you have for the gaming fans out there?
Ariane: I hope they enjoy it. I knew the game. I think it’s an amazing game and I’m pretty sure they’re going to love the film.
The Lobster was recognized for a Golden Globe, so can you speak a little bit about what that honor means, that the film was recognized?
Ariane: Oh. It’s great, of course. It was a huge surprise and what can I say? We were hoping for it and we’re so happy.
What’s coming up next for you?
Ariane: I just finished shooting something in Italy. It’s about the life of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ.
Congratulations and how was working on that?
Ariane: It was another world, another atmosphere but it was amazing, very intense, very beautiful.
I just saw Lion and that was another incredible movie.
Ariane: Yeah. The director is brilliant, Garth Davis Yeah. He’s a genius.
The film hits theaters on December 21, 2016.
