Swizz Beatz’s The Dean Collection teamed up with the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card collection to celebrate Women in the Arts at the heart of South Beach during Art Basel Miami 2019. Gallerist and activist Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels worked with the hosts to create an artistic experience as part of a party to highlight the synergies between art, hospitality, and the imagination.
Artists February James and LaKela Brown created six unique pieces for the event: a series of pajamas as canvasses for art. The posh PJs were cut for style, with an almost 80s Miami suit look, with plenty of room for artistic expression from innovative luxury patterns to social commentary. Although guests couldn’t go and shop the PJs for a nap by the pool themselves, the artists gave out matching sleep masks to partygoers as artistic souvenirs. The Dean Collection cloud pillow wall was the finishing touch.
Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean and friends spun tracks and performed for guests throughout a beautiful night by the pool, playing classics along with the perfect music for the setting. Ever the anchor of South Beach, the W WET Deck spun up a party that yes, was pajama themed; but kept guests up and enjoying late into the night. Bright globes glowed in the pool, while a stylish crowd talked and danced on the deck and throughout the ornate wooden alcoves and bars throughout. The W South Beach represents Marriott’s leading role in setting the scene at the north end of the famous South Beach strip; despite all of the different directions in which Art Basel Miami pulls, the crowd, the art, and the music set the tone at the kickoff of the highlight evening of the weekend.
