Disney+ Presents an Epic Premiere: ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ at The Met

Whether it’s due to the stunning art or rich history, there’s always a certain magic in the air at The Metropolitan Museum of Art; That was no exception on Wednesday night, when Disney+ hosted the world premiere of their original series, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is based on Rick Riordan’s New York Times best-selling series, revolving around a twelve-year-old Percy Jackson, and how he navigates his adolescence as a demi-god. Throughout the show, he attends Camp Half-Blood with other demigod children, all the while fighting monsters and defeating enemies in the quest to return Zeus’ master bolt, preventing war and figuring out what his true destiny is.

After guests arrived and checked in, they were graciously shown to their seats in The Met’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. There, Ayo Davis (president of Disney Branded Television), Karey Burke (president of 20th Television), and Rick and Rebecca Riordan introduced the highly anticipated first two episodes. There was laughter, gasps, and applause from the audience,  as they witnessed their favorite actors perform and viewed the beautiful visuals of the hour-long premiere.

Disney+ continued the night with an exclusive after-party, where The Knockturnal was invited to enjoy the series’ themed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The bars were lavishly decorated with vibrant plants and flowers, and the buffet included divine meals while a small orchestra performed, filling the historic space with music. Desserts, such as cakes and macaroons, were brightly colored, resembling the Greek god-themed decor and Percy Jackson graphics projected on the walls.

In attendance were series stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri, as well as the creative team and crew. Guest and recurring stars, Adam Copeland, Jason Mantzoukas, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and others were also dressed in their finest to attend the red carpet event.

The first two episodes will be available to stream on Disney+ on December 20, followed by new episodes weekly.
