DC Releases New Batman vs. Superman Trailer; Official Name for Green Lantern Film and more

As everyone expected, DC had themselves quite the day in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con with new trailers and official movie news that you won’t want to miss.

San Diego Comic Con was the place to be today, specifically Hall H where DC completely stole the show. While there’s a decent amount to get to, let’s knock the most important detail out first. Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice has a new trailer…and there’s reason to have hope that this could be an all around solid movie.

With the first trailer, I had my concerns. Zack Snyder as a director has never been someone that’s made me feel comfortable as a moviegoer and I have a lot of issues with David S. Goyer as a screenwriter and just as a person. But with Oscar winner Chris Terrio writing Dawn of Justice and Ben Affleck as Batman just feels like a perfect fit for this DC Cinematic Universe. Plus, we get our first look of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and for anyone who wasn’t a believer before, prepare to have your mind changed. The only question mark so far is Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor…to me it’s obviously the hair.

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released March 25, 2016 and that date has to come quicker. Now for some other DC news.

Hall H was treated to the first footage of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film which, according to numerous reports, blew the audience out of their seats. Any footage that leaked seems to have already been taken down off the internet and all that’s around are brief clips of Jared Leto’s Joker voice and horribly distorted video where you can’t see much. Until an official trailer is released or a high quality bootleg is put up, I’ll wait on posting any clips of the Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad will be released August 5, 2016 and is written and directed by David Ayer and stars a large ensemble cast consisting of Will Smith as Deadshot, Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinneman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc.

Finally, DC gave us an official title for their future Green Lantern film: Green Lantern Corps. There have been rumors mentioning that the Green Lantern doesn’t have just one actor attached to it, but two which means we could be seeing both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The two names rumored so far have been Chris Pine and Tyrese Gibson but we’ll see if they end up being true. The first Justice League film won’t start production until next year, but we could be hearing more about casting sometime soon.
