AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead prepares for season 6 and gives us a look at Alexandria run by Rick while also premiering what looks to be their new hit show, Fear The Walking Dead.
There are very few shows as popular as The Walking Dead. For one, the comics have been consistently good for many years now and have provided the show with quality characters and story arcs that, when they’ve been executed properly, make for some of the best television. Also, as a culture we seem to be infatuated with this idea that the zombie apocalypse is coming and it very well may be for all we know. There’s also the fact that The Walking Dead is just a very good television show that blends numerous different genres together that very few shows have been able to successfully do.
Season five of The Walking Dead was easily the show at its best. For many seasons, it’s always felt like it would start off strong, then go to numerous throwaway episodes until a huge mid-season finale, then repeat starting from the start of the mid-season to the shows actual finale. But season five never quite hit that lull. It felt strong consistently from beginning to end and for the first time it felt like each episode was able to tell its own story while advancing the plot of the main story. With season fives huge ending, I’m excited for what season six has in store for us. AMC previewed the first trailer for The Walking Dead season six at San Diego Comic Con, and it does not disappoint. Season six will make its 90 minute season premiere on October 11, 2015.
This year though, there’s more than one zombie show airing on AMC. Will it match The Walking Dead? Well, we’ll see. But if there’s anything that can be said about Fear the Walking Dead, it’s that the title is just really…lame. The first trailer for Fear the Walking Dead does show promise which isn’t that surprising. It hits all the right beats and it has the same sense of fear and dread presented in The Walking Dead. Whether it’ll be just as good though…we’ll have to see. Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on August 23, 2015.
