Directed by John R. Leonetti (Director of Annabelle) and starring Joey King, “Wish Upon” is a horror thriller in theaters this summer, July 14th.
Joey King is coming into her own with this lead role in “Wish Upon”.
She plays 17 year old Clare Shannon who is gifted an old music box from her father. As the owner of the box, she is granted 7 wishes. Things take a turn as people around her start dying in mysterious ways and Clare is left to figure out what is happening and how to get rid of this box.
In this exclusive clip, we see Clare with her two friends Meredith (Sydney Park) and June (Shannon Purser). Meredith questions Clare’s choices and thought-process when making almost five of her wishes (and not catering any of her wishes to two of her best friends). Meredith tells Clare that if she could wish for anything herself, she would wish for world peace and cure cancer. Clare struggles in back and forth conversation with her friends as Meredith and June both advise her to get rid of the box. June points out and says that: “If you’re realizing people have died, aren’t you a bad person if you keep it?” As Clare wonders if getting rid of the box will dismiss any of her previous wishes.
