Soundcloud hosted a launch party in New York City this Thursday for their new subscription service, Soundcloud Go.
Chance the Rapper and A$AP Ferg performed at this event held at Flash Factory in Chelsea, NYC, with opening acts Jr Jr and DJ Lakim.
After the opening acts, Ferg opened with “New Level” from his new album, Always Strive and Prosper. The crowd, mostly young professionals and hip-hop fans, immediately exploded into cheers and the floor shook with every jump. His hype man, Marty Baller, also part of A$AP mob, joined him on stage and they performed fan favorites such as “Shabba” and “Work Remix,” hyping up partygoers, crowd surfing, and spraying water on the crowd. Ferg also performed a track in homage to the late A$AP Yams, who passed away last year.
After Ferg concluded his act, Chance the Rapper and The Social Experiment opened with “Everybody’s Something.” For those who have never had the opportunity to see Chance the Rapper live, what sets apart Chance from other rappers and artists is that he performs with a live band. He and The Social Experiment performed favorites from Acid Rap and Surf, as well as tracks like “Heaven Only Knows” and “Angels.” Kanye West fans in the room were also excited when Chance performed “Ultralight Beam” and “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” from West’s album, The Life of Pablo.
