Jolie and Pitt reunite on screen for the first time since Mr. and Mrs. Smith in this drama of a couple struggling to save their marriage.
The newest trailer for the drama By The Sea has been released and it really looks like it’s going to pack one heck of an emotional punch. Written, directed, and starring Angelina Jolie, By The Sea takes place around the 1970’s and shows a married couple in crisis trying to save their marriage on a trip to a resort in Paris. Starring opposite Jolie in the picture is none other than her own husband, Brad Pitt. This will make the first time the two have appeared on screen together since their Mr. and Mrs. Smith days. And it’s safe to say that By The Sea will be different in many, many ways.
From what it looks, By The Sea visually appears to be something similar to a film Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line) would have directed. It simply just looks stunning and truly beautiful. There’s really not a whole lot else that could be said. There isn’t much dialogue and it appears Jolie is keeping an eye on what footage gets released and what doesn’t get released. There’s absolutely nothing be spoiled, just some clear turmoil between the married couple, crying, a bit of yelling and that’s it.
This will be Jolie’s third feature film as a director, with her two previous films – In The Land of Honey and Unbroken – receiving mixed reviews. As an actress, this is Jolie’s first time on screen since Maleficent and only her second time since…well, The Tourist. By The Sea can go any number of ways, but I’m cautiously excited to see Jolie and Pitt in top form.
By The Sea is written and directed by Angelina Jolie and stars Jolie, Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud, and Richard Bohringer. By The Sea will be in theaters November 13, 2015.
