Last week at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, soloist, trumpeter, and songwriter Bria Skonberg sang new life into the hit-classic “It’s Oh So Quiet” by Bjork.

Bria Skonberg, the new critically acclaimed face of jazz, sang her heart out while performing multiple jazz classics, sprinkling in her own sound.

Audience members swayed while enamored with the beautiful portrayal of Jazzy melodies incorporated with her melodic voice. With the back up from the band, Skonberg dominated the stage.

The Canadian born performer also debuted some of her new singles from the newest album With a Twist. The album reunited Skonberg and producer Matt Pierson, who she credits with helping her realize the creative concept for the latest album.

Skonberg has received some of the highest accolades from the jazz community, including Kobe Jazz Street Award and the Jazz Award of Merit.

Coming straight off her recent Juno Award for her Sony records debut in 2016, Bria, the new jazz phenom has created waves as the Wall Street Journal recognized her as the “most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation”.

The audience was entranced as Skonberg intertwined both her vocals and instrumental capabilities in complete harmony, with the help of her carefully crafted band of percussions, bass, and piano.

This up and coming artists has something to prove, and she is doing just that. Skonberg continues to bring a modern flare to the elegance and refinement of classic jazz.
