Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) hosted its BMI Urban Showcase Tuesday, April 5 at Terminal West. The event featured a combination of the recording industry’s eminent stars and most-promising talent.

Broadcast Music Incorporated is a global leader in music rights management, serving as an advocate for the value of music. BMI represents the public performance rights in more than 10.5 million musical works created and owned by more than 700,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers.

Bre-Z, known to her fans as Freda Gatz from Fox’s hit-show Empire, is a recording artist from Pennsylvania who has already collaborated with artists like Jennifer Lopez, The Game and Freeway, hosted the BMI Urban Showcase.

The night was filled with performances from rap duo EarthGang, R&B crooner Jacquees, and rapper/singer/producer Elhae. In the main event, producers Zaytoven and Drumma Boy go head-to-head in “The Ultimate Battle of Catalogs”, which included surprise guest performances from Young Dolph, B.o.B, OJ Da Juiceman, and Pastor Troy.

BMI also presented the Legends of ATL Award to rapper Pastor Troy for his contributions to Atlanta’s music cutlure. Pastor Troy joins the likes of Big Oomp, Dallas Austin, Big Boi of Outkast, Organized Noize, Lil Jon, and DJ Toomp as previous winners of the prestigious award.

The BMI Urban Showcase was sponsored by V -103 – The People’s Station. DJ Infamous, from Atlanta, hyped the crowd while 2013 Legends of ATL Winner DJ Greg Street and V -103 Radio DJ Greg Street broadcasted the event in front of a packed venue, on a night which successfully displayed some of musics rising stars.
