The 2024 BMI Pop Awards lit up Beverly Hills with a symphony of talent, where the only thing brighter than the stage lights were the smiles of music’s finest as they created connections that will last a lifetime.

BMI, the global leader in music rights management, rolled out the red carpet on June 4th at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, CA, to celebrate the best of the best of pop songwriting at the Pop Awards Ceremony. The star-studded event brought together industry luminaries, hitmakers, and rising talents for an evening of recognition, camaraderie, and, of course, music that we just can’t seem to stop humming the melody of.

At the forefront of the celebration was the prestigious BMI President’s Award, presented this year to the acclaimed songwriter, producer, and artist, Benny Blanco. Blanco’s name is synonymous with chart-topping hits that have left an everlasting mark on the global music scene with songs such as “Diamonds” by Rihanna, Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream“, Britney Spear’s “Circus“, and the list just gets more impressive.

His innovative approach to songwriting and production has garnered him accolades and admiration from peers and fans alike. The BMI President’s Award serves as a fitting tribute to Blanco’s remarkable contributions to the industry.

Among the highlights of the evening were the announcement of BMI’s Pop Song of the Year won by Miley Cyrus song “Flowers” written by Gregory “Aldae” Hein, Michael Pollack, and Miley Cyrus the queen, herself. Winning Songwriter of the Year was the likes of stadium sell-out and cardigan wearing, Taylor Swift. As the night closes the award for Publisher of the Year was won by Sony Music Publishing for publishing hits such as The Weeknd’s “Die for You” and “Kill Bill” by SZA.

The event saw an array of talented songwriters and producers grace the stage, including Edgar Barrera, D’Mile, Omer Fedi, Gregory ‘Aldae’ Hein, Carter Lang, Bonnie McKee, Michael Pollack, Ricky Reed, Bebe Rexha, Stephen Sanchez, Andrew Watt, Andrew Wyatt, and many more. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and creative energy that drives the pop music industry forward.

In a heartwarming tribute to Benny Blanco’s monumental achievement of receiving the President’s Award, Sia took center stage with her mesmerizing rendition of “Diamonds.” With her signature emotive vocals, Sia not only honored Blanco’s remarkable contributions to the music industry but also underscored the enduring impact of his creative vision.

Hosting the evening were BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President, Creative, Worldwide, Barbara Cane. Their leadership and dedication to supporting songwriters and composers have been instrumental in BMI’s mission to champion the value of music.
