Calling all anime fans and soccer lovers! Blue Lock, the popular sports anime series, has hit the big screen with BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-.

Too much of a “hassle” to jump into a whole series? This movie is the perfect introduction!

The film follows Nagi, the platinum-haired prodigy with a hidden passion for soccer, and his enthusiastic friend Rio. While Nagi’s talent is undeniable, his drive is initially unclear.

Rio, on the other hand, overflows with positive energy and pushes Nagi to reach his full potential. Together, they form a formidable duo, dominating high school soccer.

Nagi’s journey is one of self-discovery. Initially unsure of his motivation, he finds his “ego” – his burning desire to excel – (a theme we often visit in the film through purple and blue auras that emulate through the screen) through the intense competition at Blue Lock. Rio, his ever-optimistic teammate, acts as his initial spark.

Blue Lock is a high-stakes training program where 300 of Japan’s most promising young strikers are pitted against each other in a ruthless battle for supremacy. Led by the eccentric Jinpachi Ego, the program emphasizes a singular focus: becoming the ultimate striker for the national team.

But the film is not just about high-octane soccer battles and stunning animation. You can also witness intense and off-your-seat soccer battles animated with stunning detail, delving into the emotional struggles of friendship. The movie’s energy and story will have you wanting to explore the full Blue Lock series by the halfway point (if not before!).

Catch BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI- in theaters on June 27 with subtitles! Who knows, you might even leave feeling like a soccer expert yourself, we know we did!
