Moncler achieves a glamorous mountaineer look for the runway…

On Tuesday March 7, Moncler presented their latest line at Paris Fashion Week in the sumptuous Grand Palais. We were on the scene backstage with MAC Cosmetics to talk beauty with makeup artist Val Garland.

Garland went into detail about the simple look she called ‘moistly Moncler’ and told us the story behind the girls’ look. Garland opted for elegant simplicity in a look that matched the outdoorsy and clean aesthetic of the clothes. Though she went for as natural a look as possible, Garland still gave us the run-down on the products of the day which included Complete Comfort Crème, Next to Nothing foundation, the Conceal and Correct palette, the Prep + Prime essential oils stick, Mixing Medium Shine, the False Lashes Maximizer mascara, the Prep + Prime lip, and brush #184.

Tell us about today’s look.

Val Garland: Basically you could say that she’s ‘moistly Moncler’. So it’s all about the idea that she’s taken a hike up a mountain in Canada. So she’s very fresh-faced, she’s slightly dewy from being outside in the damp air and that is basically the look. So it’s a brushed up eyebrow, really nice natural skin, I’m using this foundation, Next to Nothing foundation. The most important thing is the prep. We do lots of serums, moisturizers, before we even get to the foundation. Then I’m using this stick across the eyes, on the cheekbones, so it looks like she’s quite moist. Colored brow gel into the brows. First of all I take this mascara and push that into the brows, which pushes the brows up and keeps them there. Then I go over it with a brow gel and, if need be, a colored brow gel. And that’s kind of it really. Matte lips, we’re using a lip scrub, a vanilla lip scrub, and then I go over it with a little bit of powder. So the whole of the face is slightly misty and moist and it’s just the lips that are matte. And that’s kind of it.
