Melanie Martinez Shines at Virtual Concert Event

by Sydney Hargrove December 21, 2020
written by Sydney Hargrove

For so many, going to concerts is an escape, an incredible experience that was taken away like so many things this year. With the pandemic going on, it’s hard to say when concerts will be back again and for so many avid concert goers and performers alike, this is heartbreaking. This year, multi-platinum pop phenomenon Melanie Martinez was set to launch the biggest world tour of her career, exciting fans worldwide at the chance to see her perform. In light of circumstances, on Thursday Martinez launched a one of a kind virtual streaming event that celebrated her internationally acclaimed album and accompanying full-length feature film “K-12.”

Everything Martinez does is so beautifully unique while being incredible true to herself and her style, which is what sets the young artist apart from so many others. The virtual concert was a totally unique event in itself, from the costumes and visuals that came with it, to the nature of interaction with fans that the event allowed, having a sidebar that gave adoring fans the chance to talk to each other and share excitement and opinions. In these times, virtual interaction is sometimes the only form of interaction, and incorporating this into the stream was such a brilliantly creative addition to the overall experience.

The concert consisted of 12 songs, each being performed with Martinez putting on an individual show for each. The visuals in the performances were stunning and each told a story. From giant cakes to traveling in between different dollhouses, she truly did her part in making sure that the experience was as true to an in person concert as possible. The immersive visuals created an experience unlike any other.

Kicking off the concert with her fan favorite song “Play Date,” Melanie created a world full of color, bright costumes and visually stunning scenes for worldwide fans. The event truly captured the meaning of coming together to share a common love of an artist, allowing fans to have the concert experience from the safety and comfort of their homes.

The all new “Saved By The Bell” reboot from Peacock stars the original cast as well as some new faces as we meet a brand new generation of Bayside High students, some from “overprivileged” families, and other from working-class families.

The two different worlds collide when California Governor Zack Morris transfers students from lower income neighborhoods nearby after his administration experiences controversy for closing too many low-income high schools. Among the new students, we meet the exuberant and bright eyed Daisy, played by the incredibly Haskiri Velazquez. Haskiri talks about the role she plays with great pride, seeing herself in this character that she portrays as the two come from similar upbringings. Throughout her time in the series, Daisy shows nothing but ambition on her road to becoming class president and showing her fellow classmates everything she is determined to accomplish. Haskiri takes on the part with grace and passion, showcasing her talent and dedication to bringing out who Daisy is.

Exclusive: Up and Coming R&B Artist Chrissy Talks New Single “Alright”

by Sydney Hargrove October 30, 2020
written by Sydney Hargrove

Newcomer Chrissy is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but she is an emerging superstar as a singer, songwriter, and actress that is about to take Hollywood by storm!

A child of tinsel town since the day she was born, her father is music producer, screenwriter, director, Chris Stokes, but Chrissy didn’t discover her passion for singing and acting until the age of 11. She landed her first paid acting job on the TNT Drama Series ‘Southland’ opposite Emmy Award-winning actress Regina King.  In 2019, Chrissy got the opportunity to showcase her acting and singing talents on screen when she landed the lead role in the series “Howard High.”  We had the chance to talk to Chrissy about her debut single and so much more. Check it out below!

The Knockturnal: Tell us about your debut single “Relax”?

Chrissy: Relax is a song that I dedicated to my husband. It’s talking about how he works so hard, so I just want him to sit back and relax for a change.

The Knockturnal: What was in the inspiration for the video?

Chrissy: I mean, me and my husband just love going to the beach together, so it was a perfect place to go for a song that was dedicated to him.

The Knockturnal: How long have you been working on your debut album? How excited are you to finally release it?

Chrissy: I would say throughout the entire quarantine, I’ve been working on this project and doing all the content and just tightening it up. I wanted to make it absolutely perfect, to the point where I feel like everybody can enjoy it as much as I do.

The Knockturnal: How was working with J-Boog on “Alright”?

Chrissy: It was fun it’s always fun working with J-Boog. He’s like an uncle to me I grew up around him my entire life from since I could remember so it was just like fun like just super fun working with him.

The Knockturnal: How was working with on “F.L.Y,.” your duet with Marques Houston?

Chrissy: Again, Marques was there when I was born. So, I just called them up real quick and was like, ‘Hey can you come up on the song?’ And he was there in like 10 minutes hahaha

The Knockturnal: How did you link up with Chaz X and what has it been like working with him?

Chrissy: Man, he is a dope, dope, dope producer. He makes some of the best beats! And working with him is always a pleasure, he’s such a sweet guy.

The Knockturnal: What singers inspire you?

Chrissy: My top two inspirations are Whitney Houston and Brandy.

The Knockturnal : What singers and producers would you like to collab with in the future?

Chrissy: I would love to make a song with Summer Walker, Snoh, H.E.R. And you know what? I would like to work with L.T. Hutton because he’s just dope and old school. The way I like it.

The Knockturnal: Tell us about your beauty channel?

Chrissy: Miya Houston and I started a YouTube channel to just let people know about who we are, how we do our makeup, and how we can be some really down-to-earth, cool people.

The Knockturnal: What are your go to products?

Chrissy: Lip gloss, hands-down. That’s all I can say is lip gloss.

The Knockturnal: You’re also an actress. Speak about your love and passion for acting!

Chrissy: I like being an actress because I can not be me for moment and tap into being someone else. I’d say that’s my favorite part.
