A child of tinsel town since the day she was born, her father is music producer, screenwriter, director, Chris Stokes, but Chrissy didn’t discover her passion for singing and acting until the age of 11. She landed her first paid acting job on the TNT Drama Series ‘Southland’ opposite Emmy Award-winning actress Regina King. In 2019, Chrissy got the opportunity to showcase her acting and singing talents on screen when she landed the lead role in the series “Howard High.” We had the chance to talk to Chrissy about her debut single and so much more. The Knockturnal: Tell us about your debut single “Relax”?
Chrissy: Relax is a song that I dedicated to my husband. It’s talking about how he works so hard, so I just want him to sit back and relax for a change.
The Knockturnal: What was in the inspiration for the video?
Chrissy: I mean, me and my husband just love going to the beach together, so it was a perfect place to go for a song that was dedicated to him.
The Knockturnal: How long have you been working on your debut album? How excited are you to finally release it?
Chrissy: I would say throughout the entire quarantine, I’ve been working on this project and doing all the content and just tightening it up. I wanted to make it absolutely perfect, to the point where I feel like everybody can enjoy it as much as I do.
The Knockturnal: How was working with J-Boog on “Alright”?
Chrissy: It was fun it’s always fun working with J-Boog. He’s like an uncle to me I grew up around him my entire life from since I could remember so it was just like fun like just super fun working with him.
The Knockturnal: How was working with on “F.L.Y,.” your duet with Marques Houston?
Chrissy: Again, Marques was there when I was born. So, I just called them up real quick and was like, ‘Hey can you come up on the song?’ And he was there in like 10 minutes hahaha
The Knockturnal: How did you link up with Chaz X and what has it been like working with him?
Chrissy: Man, he is a dope, dope, dope producer. He makes some of the best beats! And working with him is always a pleasure, he’s such a sweet guy.
The Knockturnal: What singers inspire you?
Chrissy: My top two inspirations are Whitney Houston and Brandy.
The Knockturnal : What singers and producers would you like to collab with in the future?
Chrissy: I would love to make a song with Summer Walker, Snoh, H.E.R. And you know what? I would like to work with L.T. Hutton because he’s just dope and old school. The way I like it.
The Knockturnal: Tell us about your beauty channel?
Chrissy: Miya Houston and I started a YouTube channel to just let people know about who we are, how we do our makeup, and how we can be some really down-to-earth, cool people.
The Knockturnal: What are your go to products?
Chrissy: Lip gloss, hands-down. That’s all I can say is lip gloss.
The Knockturnal: You’re also an actress. Speak about your love and passion for acting!
Chrissy: I like being an actress because I can not be me for moment and tap into being someone else. I’d say that’s my favorite part.
