Kellogg’s long-term mission has always been to promote a positive impact on kids, families, and communities through food, especially through their iconic mascot, Tony the Tiger. The classic “Hey Tony” jingle was particularly popular in their ads during the ‘90s, and now, Grammy-nominated rapper J.I.D has put his own spin on it.

Implementing the same flow and energy of his own hip-hop music, the “Hey Tony” remix represents unity between the younger generation and Kellogg’s mission. The song’s lyrics also pull from J.I.D’s own memories with the cereal brand. It’s clear that the collaboration was more than simply just an advertisement. For him, it was a personal partnership rooted in nostalgia.
“Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes has always had a seat at the breakfast table when I was growing up, and Tony the Tiger has been in my corner since Day One,” J.I.D said for the press release. “Reuniting with the brand to recreate the iconic “Hey Tony” jingle draws on my own childhood nostalgia, and I couldn’t be more excited to come together to hype up the next generation with a soundtrack that motivates them to unlock their potential.”

Born and based in Atlanta, J.I.D will return to his hometown to perform the song on February 22 for the Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes “Day Ones” Bowl Game. The event is set to take place at Carrollton High Sports Facilities with the aim of encouraging engagement and funding for their sports programs.
