Moving from screen to stage, the Emmy Award-winning actress is set to make her Broadway debut this fall in Steve Martin’s new play.
Opening night is scheduled for November 29 for the new comedic play Meteor Shower, which follows two couples in Ojaj, California as they watch a meteor shower. However, things take an unusual turn in a story Variety calls a “cosmic comedy from the master of the American absurd.”
Schumer, best known for her comedic roles in movies such as Trainwreck, will grace the Broadway stage for the first time. Alongside Schumer is a star-studded cast that includes Emmy Award-winner Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Award-winner Laura Benati, and Star Wars: Rogue One actor Alan Tudyk. The creative team and crew is also highly regarded, with four-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Zaks leading the pack as director.
This is not Martin’s first time on Broadway. His latest musical Bright Star was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. His full-length play Picasso at the Lapin Agile was also highly regarded when it took the Off-Broadway stage by storm in 1995.
Previews for Meteor Shower begin on November 1 at the Booth Theatre. To learn more about the show and buy tickets, click here.
