A Hug From The Art World presents Roy Nachum Portraits, in an intimate exhibition space located at 515 West 19th Street, New York.
As you enter the gallery viewers are welcomed with five large-scale portraits, each a distinct experience in itself. The viewer’s eyes are drawn towards the human faces, with what may appear to be random large brush strokes in striking colors. However, meticulous in their purpose, the paintings capture every microscopic detail of the human face, using a tiny detailed brush, proving to be an exhibition five years in the making.
Nachum’s work touches on the senses, the absence of one creating the other. It is through experiencing a video and audio component on the second floor, that viewers discover the subjects are visually impaired or blind. The works in the exhibition are available for sale with the proceeds after costs going to Nachum’s collaborators, Rachel Cross, Romeo Edmead, Leona Godin, Fritze Lauture, and Rosie Lopez.
