This past Tuesday night, The Knockturnal had the privilege to cover the Weiner cocktail party at The Pavilion at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. Prestigious guests attended, such as directors Josh Kriegman and Elyse Sternberg, who were obviously integral parts in creating the film.
Also in attendance were Danny Strong, Fenton Bailey, Kim Roberts, Steve Tisch, and Marina Zenovich.
The Pavilion at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills was absolutely stunning, as was the event. Cocktails and appetizers were served, as guests chatted about the film that was screened here in LA this past weekend at Laemmle’s Monica Film Center.
The film has made its mark in the documentary film world. It’s 2013 and Anthony Weiner – still reeling from the sex scandal that ended his political career two years earlier – is back in the spotlight as he mounts a comeback campaign for New York City mayor. But it’s not long before history repeats itself and new sexting allegations leave Weiner and his aides scrambling to contain the damage. Granted access to the candidate and his campaign, filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg capture a behind-the-scenes look at the political machine as it breaks down.
We loved the documentary and it is a must – see. Powerful and thought-provoking. The film premiered in January 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival. If you’re not convinced, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 96%!
