Budland. The vibes, the vibes, the vibes. On July 14th and 15th, Budweiser held its first ever Budland Festival to celebrate the launch of its new product: art inspired California beer bottles. The scene was straight out a movie; from the performers to the fashion to the art installations (even the food trucks got in on the fun).
Los Angeles is a hot spot, a melting pot full of interesting and creative individuals. So the expectations for the Budland festival were heightened to levels that I must say, were far exceeded in the outcome.
Seeing Ty Dolla Sign (an LA native), ASAP Rocky, School Boy Q and many others felt like a mini Coachella; minus all the traffic and heatwaves. The food trucks came in handy in between sets and fashion brands like Babylon, WEDIDIT, and Round Two offered up some pretty cool merch for attendees to buy.
Buddy, up and coming Compton native, kicked off Day 1 with slamming tracks off his latest EP collaboration with Kaytranda, Ocean and Montana. His break out single “Shine” had fans super hyped as they sipped on complimentary Budweiser. Syd was up next, a LA native from the squad Odd Future. She performed her new album “Fin” to fans delight. Syd’s laid-back style was the perfect appetizer for what fans would get with Ty Dolla Sign. Channeling nothing less than rockstar vibes, Ty’s set was packed with live instruments (he even picked up a guitar and started playing), loud chants, and of course shirtless bravado. Giving fans exactly what they wanted with hits like “Or Na”, “It’s a Vibe”, and his newest single with Lil Wayne and The Dream “Love U Better”.
To sum it up, Budland was one of those events that’ll come up in conversation when you’re hanging out with your squad 2, 3 years from now.
The convo will probably end with something along the lines of this: “…man that was lit.”
