Oscar Week was full of many golden moments. A bright one in the glorious sunshine of Los Angeles was the Vanity Fair Social Club.
The exclusive lounge returned for the third consecutive year and this awards season took place at PLATFORM, a new creative space in Culver City. The amazing production included fantastic programming honoring Oscar and Spirit Award nominees, as well as social media leaders.
From the Oscar predictions panel to one-on-one conversations with today’s industry leaders and the meaningful impact of the event was powerful. #VFSC provides an inspiring and engaging venue for bloggers and online journalists to write, work, and play while in Los Angeles for the week of the Academy Awards.
Highlights from the week long event included the Oscar Predictions Panel with host, Vanity Fair editor Katey Rich and panelists Dave Karger (Fandango), Franklin Leonard (The Blacklist), Bladimiar Norman (Skydance Media), Krista Smith (Vanity Fair west coast editor); Tangerine Screening and Q&A with the film’s director, Sean S. Baker, and star, Mya Taylor, moderated by Vanity Fair west coast editor, Krista Smith; Conversation with Oscar-nominated costume designer, Sandy Powell (Cinderella, Carol) and Vanity Fair editor Julie Miller; Conversation with Oscar-nominated makeup artist, Lesley Vanderwalt (Mad Max) and Vanity Fair beauty director SunHee Grinnell Presented by Stella Artois;Equal Means Equal Conversation with founder and Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette and Vanity Fair contributor Nell Scovell; and Straight Outta Compton Panel with Oscar-nominated screenwriters Andrea Berloff and Jonathan Herman, moderated by Vanity Fair west coast editor, Krista Smith.
“My favorite part of this whole process is meeting the other writers,” said nominee Jonathan Herman about his busy Oscar week during the panel. “Some of them are so accomplished. Hearing their story and advice is great.”
Sponsors for #VFSC included Stella Artois pouring during happy hours, L’Oréal Paris provided dry hair styling and makeup touchups throughout the week, YSL Beauté who provided makeup appointments, Viktor&Rolf had a photo booth on site and Chrysler brand had the new 2016 Chrysler 300S on display for guests to experience.
Officially opening in Spring 2016, PLATFORM will become a consumer space for specially curated merchants and creative companies.
