Netflix is taking everyone back to Stars Hollow and picking up where the Gilmores last left us.

The time has come for fans to rush to Netflix for a trip down memory lane as the streaming service announces a revival of hit show “Gilmore Girls”. Though rumors leaked a few months ago, the announcement of the official new show was made recently. Since then fans have exploded as they reminisce about the show and it’s rather abrupt series ending. The quick ending came as a result of multiple disagreements between the writers and Fox Studios, leaving viewers with an entire season of odd writing and disconnected plot development. Though a majority of the cast will be returning, this isn’t exactly a full-fledged sequel.

The show will be broken down into four 90 minute installments, each “episode” representing a season in the year. Produced by Warner Bros. Television, much of the original production team of the show is also on board. Many fans have already noticed that some actors haven’t confirmed their characters, such as Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, and Melissa McCarthy, however each actor has their reasons and careers to be thinking about when making decisions. For the most part the main cast has signed on so the show will be seeing the return of actors Scott Patterson as Luke, Yanic Truesdale as Michel, and of course Lauren Graham and Alexis Bidel as Rory and Lorelai Gilmore. Some other characters have also been confirmed and a list of new ones. Even though filming for the new show is set to start within the week, a premiere date and any other information has yet to be released.

Before fans go into frenzy about the potential of the show, there are quite a few things to remember. This revival is set to be the actual “final season” of the show that will fix or reset the mistakes of season seven, which means a complete show with multiple seasons is highly unlikely. The fact that some actors have not confirmed already sees certain aspects of the story going in different directions. But a strong positive is that original creator of the show, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is also joining the team as an executive producer and help answer a lot of questions that audiences were left with. The decision to create the revival follows Netflix’s general business strategy to build off of super fans’ nostalgia, hence Arrested Development and Fuller House. Despite the dim success and potential success of the latter, anticipation is rapidly building for the new show, which fans should enjoy and Netflix will soon enjoy in terms of profits.
